WE MAKE ART ABOUT THINGS WE LOVE.

Ministry of Materials began in 2020 from our studio in the National Forest.

We're Antony and Sophie, a husband-and-wife team with a slightly unhealthy affection for art, design, classic cars, LEGO, cinema and popular culture.

Sophie is an artist and illustrator. Antony is a photographer and graphic designer.

The process usually starts with Sophie drawing by hand. Antony then takes over with colour, graphic design and the occasional completely unnecessary opinion.

Somehow, this arrangement still constitutes a marriage.

What comes out the other end is Ministry of Materials.

ART SHOULDN'T BE INTIMIDATING.

We don't believe you need to understand art-speak, own a white gallery or stroke your chin thoughtfully before you're allowed to enjoy something.

Sometimes you see a picture of a LEGO spaceman, an old Land Rover or a car from a film you watched twenty times as a kid and think: I want that on my wall.

That's good enough for us.

We make colourful, affordable artwork designed to trigger memories, start conversations and make otherwise sensible adults grin when they walk past it.

MADE PROPERLY.

The original illustrations are drawn by hand before being developed into the finished artwork in our studio.

We care enormously about the little things — linework, colour, paper and print quality — because they're what turn an illustration into something worth framing.

Our prints are produced on heavyweight 360gsm paper, giving them a beautiful tactile finish and wonderfully rich colour.
